Caramelized Onion Side Dish

I didn't make this recipe up, I've seen several different tiktoks/reels showing the dish a while ago, but when I went to search the recipe, I couldn't find it anywhere! I'm mostly documenting what I came up with for myself, but if you're an onion lover like me (or just a normal onion liker, like my husband Tyler who won't stop raving about these as well), you should definitely try it out! It's not usual to eat large amounts of onion at once, but we both ate a whole onion each, it was that good! Well -- let's get into it!

Ingredients/Tools Needed:

  • Onions, peeled and sliced in halves - each half is a serving

  • Olive oil

  • Salt

  • Diced garlic (optional)

  • Fresh rosemary (optional)

  • Muffin tin!

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Depending on how many onion halves you are using, coat the same number of muffin tin cavities in olive oil and then place your onion in it, cut side facing up.

  3. Brush your onion with more olive oil and then sprinkle with salt and any other herbs/spices you'd like.

  4. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, after which you'll increase the temperature to 400 degrees and bake for 15-20 minutes until the outside rings are browned and the onions are completely tender.

Enjoy your tasty onions! I tried mine with some bread and butter which was also yummy and very much cozy fall vibes. Let me know if you try this and make any yummy alterations!
