Looking Back on 2022 and Forward to 2023

WHAT A YEAR !

This week's post is a little more personal as I reflect on the past year and what I hope to do in 2023.

This was very busy for me and honestly, a little bit exhausting. I did school this entire year with very little breaks (NOT recommended) ON TOP of getting married in the summer & working for a good amount of the year.

My over-arching goal for 2022 was to get outside of my comfort zone. I created a bucket list & while I didn't do all the things on the list, I'm proud of myself for the things I did do. It's easy to only focus on all the things we don't accomplish or don't finish, but I feel like this year I learned a little more how to be patient with myself and give myself credit for things.

Here are some of the things from my 2022 bucket list that I accomplished:

- Learn how to swim (at least be more confident in my abilities)

- Get more comfortable saying "no" & not being a people-pleaser

- Find a way to serve others consistently (this year, I'm being a mentor to some high school girls)

- Go somewhere where I don't know anyone and meet a bunch of people (I decided to do student involvement!)

- Invest some time into starting a blog... ;)

- Go through the temple

- Drive a long distance by myself (I'm probably a pro now!)

- Pay for a photoshoot of just myself

- Complete a social media fast

Other highlights of this year was obviously getting married (!!!!), decorating/setting up our first apartment together, taking awesome marketing/social media classes & courses, having 2 different social media manager jobs, and just learning more about myself! Watching my BeReal recap really reminded me how awesome this year was, even if it didn't always feel like it.

The theme of my goals for 2023 is taking care of myself... because one things that I learned this year is that I need to take more breaks & be easier on myself. I'm taking a semester off from school which will be a huge blessing in my life right now.

Here are some more of my specific goals to prioritize my mental well-being and incorporate rest:

- Plan & follow through with at least one fun/new thing each week either by myself, with Tyler, or with friends

- Plan & do one thing each week to serve others or to grow spiritually

- Daily "me time" for 30 minutes a day

- Create morning & night routines that I can stick to

- Some kind of physical activity goal that I'm still working on deciding on! I've had a hard time sticking to anything besides team sports/classes, so if anyone has any advice or tips, that would be much appreciated!

I'm proud of myself for being a go-getter and accomplishing a lot this past year, but I'm learning it's not the best for me to just be go-go-go all the time (My mom was right about that). Instead of putting off taking care of myself any longer, I'm going to see what works for me and let myself slow down this next year.

What goals do you have for this coming year? What are you proud of yourself for from 2023?

See you next year!

xoxo,

Kirsten
